These instructions are a bit rough. Help Steve improve them!

Here are two ways to request someone's GPS location:

  1. If you have an iPhone, you can request their location:
    1. Request the guest's phone number and prepare to send them a text message.
    2. Tap on the "plus sign" to the left of the box where you would enter a text message.
    3. Scroll down the menu to "Location" (the Location icon is a green circle with a blue dot in the middle).
    4. Tap the "Request" button that is shown in the map.
    5. In the text box, enter a message similar to, "This is the Brighton Ski Patrol. Please tap the Share button in this message so we can determine your location. Thank you."
    6. Send the message.
  2. Otherwise, explain to the guest how they can send you their location:
    1. Send them a text message so they don't need to enter your phone number.
    2. If they have an iPhone, tell them to:
      1. Tap on the "plus sign" to the left of the box where you would enter a text message.
      2. Scroll down the menu to "Location" (the Location icon is a green circle with a blue dot in the middle).
      3. Select the Share button that appears on the map.
    3. If they have an Android phone, tell them to:
      1. Tap on the "plus sign" to the left of the box where you would enter a text message.
      2. Choose the Location button (the icon looks like a little like an upside-down teardrop).
      3. Tap allow precise location.
      4. (The user might get prompted to change Location settings which is a bit of a pain).

Here are ways to navigate to someone's GPS location:

  1. When you receive their waypoint, tap on it.
  2. The waypoint will open in Apple or Google maps. These are similar but not indentical. Basically:
    1. The guest's location will be shown in a bubble. Your location will be shown as a white circle with a blue dot.
    2. Your location dot will have a blue "fan" that shows which way your phone is pointing.
    3. Rotate your phone until the fan is pointing at their location. Your phone is now pointing toward the guest.

Using What3Words.com:

  1. To request the guest's three-words:
    1. Send a message similar to, "Please visit https://locate.what3words.com. Three words will be displayed. Send (or tell) me those three words exactly as they appear on your phone. Thank you."
  2. To navigate to the guest's three-words:
    1. Visit https://what3words.com.
    2. Enter their three words, seperated by periods, without any spaces.
    3. Their location will be displayed as a small square. Your location will be displayed as a blue dot.
    4. Tape Navigate.
    5. Select Google Maps.
    6. Your location dot will have a blue "fan" that shows which way your phone is pointing.
    7. Rotate your phone until the fan is pointing at their location. Your phone is now pointing toward the guest.
